Established in 2005, the Yawkey Scholars Program is designed to help students in Eastern Massachusetts and Georgetown County, South Carolina meet the rising costs of undergraduate college education. The Yawkey Scholars Program is a need-based scholarship program that gives preference to students with unique life circumstances that have made study and achievement challenging and who have had a significant, meaningful experience through participation in a mentoring program or ongoing mentoring relationship. The average Yawkey Scholars Program award is $12,500/year. Since 2005, the Yawkey Foundation has awarded four-year, renewable scholarships to 60 students. The Yawkey Foundation is extremely proud to support such a promising group of young adults.
Under terms established by the Yawkey Foundation, this need-based program is administered by Scholarship Management Services, a department of Scholarship America. Scholarship applications must be submitted directly to Scholarship America. Scholarship America is a national nonprofit educational support and student aid service organization that seeks to involve and assist the private sector in expanding educational opportunities and encouraging educational achievement.
