Through its Family Museums and Children's Arts Initiative, the Yawkey Foundation seeks to support large, vibrant artistic and cultural institutions and organizations that consistently provide quality exhibits and programs for children and families. The Yawkey Foundation is especially supportive of museums and programs that are committed to providing meaningful opportunities for disadvantaged and underserved children so that they can experience and enjoy the rich and diverse tradition of arts and culture in Boston and New England.
The Yawkey Foundation seeks to support institutions and organizations that:
- Provide significant opportunities for young children and families to experience and participate in the world of science, history, art, music, dance and sport through innovative and meaningful exhibits and programs.
- Offer exhibits and programs that enhance children's understanding of and appreciation for the rich and diverse cultural heritage and traditions of our community.
- Present child-friendly exhibits and programs that are engaging, educational and challenging for young children, and welcoming for parents and other family members.
- Demonstrate a long-term and substantial commitment to providing meaningful opportunities and learning experiences in the arts, sciences, and history to those children from throughout the community who would otherwise not have access to quality exhibits and programs.
